The client is one of Italy’s leading companies in the transport and logistics sector, specialised in air, sea and road transport. The large amount of data daily generated through different transport management systems (SGA, Novasystem, Ermes, Eurosystem, etc.) and by the numerous branches spread over the territory, made it difficult to have a centralised, aggregated and fast view of this information and its global analysis.
It was necessary to collect all cost and revenue movements in a single centralised Data Warehouse (DWH), in order to allow a complete and detailed view of all company operations, also with a view to reclassifying them for the construction of a global profit and loss account for the various business units.
In order to solve this need, a Data Warehouse (DWH) was developed. Thanks to our “ETL” tool, it allows the extraction, transformation, standardisation and storage of all data, with their heterogeneity, within a relational structure that is updated daily. The integration of data made it possible to centralise and reclassify all cost and revenue movements, allowing the construction of a global profit and loss account. This profit and loss account can be easily extended to different units of analysis, such as customer, branch, etc., making it possible to always go into the most detailed movements in the various economic and asset items. In addition, various reporting tools (SAP – Business Object, Qlik Nprinting) and dashboards (Qlik) were integrated, which, thanks to various ways of aggregating and representing data, improved the decision-making capacity of the controlling office, top management and the sales force.
